Madora Bay is a coastal suburb on Mandurah’s northern beaches, between Mandurah and Rockingham, west of Mandurah Road and across from Lakelands. It began as the Madora Beach Estate in the 1960s, and newer subdivisions have filled in around it since the early 2000s. So you’ll find older beach houses on bigger lots, established trees and newer homes on tighter blocks, often within a few streets of each other.

Coastal sandy soil and what it means for your stump
Close to the beach, the ground is mostly sand. That’s generally good news for grinding, because the machine can get around the stump easily. Sandy soil does bring a few things to think about:
- Grindings settle as they break down, so a patch of lawn over an old stump can sink. Plan to top it up with soil or have the grindings removed and backfill with soil instead
- Limestone can sit close to the surface on some coastal blocks. If you know about it, tell the operator, because it’s hard on cutting teeth
- Trees in sand can spread their roots wide and shallow, so surface roots may extend well past the stump
Typical stump jobs in Madora Bay
Older coastal blocks
On the established streets, stumps often come from mature trees taken out for a renovation, a new build or to open up a view. They can be bigger, with roots running under paths or driveways. Older properties can also have soakwells, and some may have old septic or leach drain systems. If you know where yours are, include them in your photos.
Newer homes
On the newer lots, jobs tend to be smaller stumps from palms, ornamentals or screening shrubs, often in tight side yards. Measure the narrowest gate or path, because it decides what size machine can get in.
Wind-affected trees
Coastal trees cop the sea breeze and winter storms. If a tree has come down or been removed because it was leaning, the stump and root plate may be partly lifted. Photos from a couple of angles help the operator understand what’s left.

Stump grinding in Madora Bay FAQ
Will the hole sink after grinding?
In sandy soil it often settles a little as the grindings break down. Top it up with soil before laying turf, or ask to have the grindings removed and the hole backfilled with soil.
How much will it cost?
That depends on the stump’s size, the timber and the access. Our stump grinding cost guide has typical ranges, and the operator will give you a free quote from your photos.
Can surface roots be ground too?
Usually. Chasing roots is often priced separately, so point out any you want dealt with when you ask for a quote.
